Old School Giving
Learn Something Valuable
The elderly generation can offer a unique connection to our children by sharing a wealth of gifts, talents and wisdom. The careers of todays parents create more demands on their time at home leaving too little for parenting. As in some cultures, the elders never truly retire as their duty in later years is to give back what they have learned over a lifetime. This knowledge and wisdom is then shared with the children of coming generations.

Elders
You have an abundance of experience, which you often take for granted. Share a skill or new activity, such as cooking, knitting a scarf, building a birdhouse, yoga, share stories or help with homework.
Parents
Children with senior mentors also benefit from increased motivation to learn. They also have better leadership and communication skills, as well as higher self-esteem. By spending time with an older person, children also develop a greater understanding of what aging is all about, as well as an increased respect for the elderly.
